We’re Sofi, true believers in slow hospitality and lovers of great company.
We opened in December 2024, after a lot of family teamwork bringing Sofi to life. Every detail of the space was carefully crafted and thoughtfully refined alongside local designer Stacey Anderson.
After just a few weeks of work, we opened just in time for long summer nights, mezze by the lake, and meeting the wonderful locals and visitors of Wānaka.
We’ve since put down our tools and created an inspiring space with cosy vibes and an enclosed lake-view balcony, perfect for those cool winter nights under the stars.
At Sofi, we invite our guests on a journey through the Mediterranean, following the sun across the Greek Islands, the South of France, and coastal Turkey, before seeking winter comforts in Morocco and Spain. All enjoyed with a Sofi signature cocktail in hand, of course.
LAKE WĀNAKA, NEW ZEALAND
What was once a sleepy town, known for its breathtaking landscapes and New Zealand’s most famous tree, Lake Wānaka is now quickly transforming into a top destination, welcoming people from all over the world.
Here, we found a community that deeply cares for its surroundings, one that inspired us to settle in and bring this project to life, a restaurant nestled into the lakefront of Wānaka, defined by vibrant flavours and inspired by faraway seas.
